Not Only the Coolest, but the Strongest Corner of NC

Hurricane Helene: Ashe County

As an Ashe County native, my initial purpose for creating my business was to provide helpful online marketing services to small businesses in our area. But the businesses and families in Ashe are now in need of a much greater support.

Hurricane Helene recently swept through Ashe County, leaving a path of devastation. Families, businesses, and entire communities have been affected by heavy flooding, wind damage, and power outages.

Over the past few years, I’ve made connections with so many small businesses, and the wonderful people that own them. Ashe county is filled with people that value community, and lending a helping hand. These values are now more important than ever.

How You Can Help

Donate Essential Supplies

Many families are in immediate need of essential items. You can support by donating the following supplies:

  • Bottled water
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Baby formula and children’s supplies
  • Clothing
  • Pet food
  • Hygiene products
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Toiletries

You can drop off donations at Ashe Really Cares, Family Central, local fire departments, churches, or schools, where they will be distributed to those in need.

Volunteer Your Time

If you are able, consider volunteering. There is an ongoing need for help with cleanup efforts, clearing roads, and delivering supplies to impacted areas. Every hand makes a difference, and even a few hours can help families in need.

Support Local Businesses

The small business community has been hit hard. I am extremely fortunate to be able to work remotely, but many local businesses have faced great loss. Many have significant flood damage, lost products, and are still without power. These brick-and-mortar shops are the livelihood of so many families. Reach out to your locally owned business, see how you can help get them back on their feet. This may include delivering supplies, helping clean up their shop, or simply letting them know you are there for any needs. Supporting local shops during this time is crucial to helping them get back on their feet. When you shop locally, you directly contribute to your neighbors’ recovery.

Donate to the Ashe County Advantage Project

Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated and can be directed to the Ashe County Advantage Project, which is dedicated to long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts in the community.

Stay Informed and Involved

To stay updated on the ongoing recovery efforts and the latest volunteer opportunities, follow the Facebook page: Hurricane Helene: Ashe County, or the Official Site Ashe County NC, resources for real-time information and ways you can assist.

Together, we can help Ashe County recover and rebuild. Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will make a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by Hurricane Helene. Let’s show our community spirit by helping our neighbors in their time of need.
